Elive and my eeepc! perfect match!!!
Hello, my eeepc comes with its tiny 4Gb drive, its tiny screen and Xandros. When I first gave a look at it I thought it was fine. Then, I started to think it was more a phone OS than a real computer one.
I didn’t like the tab mode, I didn’t like the programs that were already installed, however it worked very good, fast in booting and in starting programs. But it was not for me, I definitely needed a desktop, and the full desktop mode was not really my cup of tea..
So I did it, I started to fiddle it, Puppylinux first, then Elive, it was not really usable, then from dev to dev it improved.
Now I can really say it is almost perfect, its fast, responsive, doesn’t request too much, stable like a rock, debian…
Its great I can just apt-get install whatever i want, its great I can remove whatever i want, now that the suspend and the hotkeys work perfectly, the only remaining problem is the madwifi driver (which is not fully optimized for eeepc so gives out wrong signal power).
I couldn’t recommend more, from version 1.9.09 everything is working pretty good, perfectly usable with minor flaws here and there.
Definitely lightyears ahead of Xandros.
