I’ve been always a big ebay fan, i buy alot of things there, since the prices are interesting and its very convenient. However recently i incurred in far too many problems, that made me rethink of my ebay businesses.
Let’s start from the beginning, i already have around 100 successful businesses on ebay, only 1 or 2 times the things went wrong, but that was for a limited amount of money.
Lately i found myself in need of a new digital camera, so i started hunting on ebay.
I won a nice auction in germany, for a minolta A1, the seller was very friendly, and i paid him in full by bank transfer.
Then troubles started, i never got the parcel, and the seller was unable to provide proof of shipping…
He told me would refund me in full, which he did, but by sending an international transfer ON my account, the result was that i had to pay 35€ in order to get my money back.
I contacted ebay and they told me i am not insured because i paid by bank transfer (even if on the website says that is not deprecated).
In any case, in order to start the insurance procedure, i had to pay 25€ so it was already almost the same…
This planted the seed in my mind, was Ebay buyer protection really a scam?
Then it happened, i saw a nice camera in France, and i bought it, paid the seller by PAYPAL, in order to be TOTALLY insured, and the seller shipped me, rather in delay but shipped.
I got a nice parcel with a camera that had fallen into a beach…yes, it was full of sand, and everyone knows how bad is sand for a camera…
I cleaned it very good, in order to find that…it was not working…
It did turn on, but no images were shown on the visor..
oh cool, i got ripped off again..
I contacted the seller, which answered me when he shipped the camera it was working, and no, he didn’t go to a beach.
Even if i found plenty of beach pictures in the camera, the camera may have stopped itself on a beach on its way to me, that’s why it took so long.
I contated ebay, they said they can’t help, since i paid with paypal i should claim them, which i did..
Paypal said i was not ELIGIBLE for buyer protection program, because i didn’t buy FROM the site i was registered from (more or less an excuse of the same kind of you are not insured because your parcel was yellow)..
But they could open a claim, and IF after 8 days the seller has not decided what to do, they would refund me WHAT they can get back from the seller (read this as follow: i seller get an email that a claim has been opened, i have 8 days time to empty my paypal account so they get nothing).
COOL i’ve never seen anything like that really, if this is not a SCAM i don’t know what it really.
In case the seller has 0 balance on its account they will give me 0, in case he has something they will give me what they can…and where is the insurance, sorry me for my blindness, you get back money from seller and give me, i don’t see where is the insurance.
In case the seller AGREES to pays me the full balance back, minus shipping expenses of course, because they can’t be “insured”, i would have to SHIP back the camera to him by trackable mail and on my CHARGE…
So i get ripped off 2 times, by a fraud seller and by Ebay..
How nice they are really, caring about the customers, and really honest and polite…
But the funniest thing is this, in case the seller CLAIMS the camera was working perfectly, paypal would ASK ME to find an expert, to get a paper saying why, when, and how the camera was broken, and PAY HIM IN FULL MYSELF.
Then they will force a refund 😀 so i spend 1000 in order to get back 100..
SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM
this is what is this buyer protection program
SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM
Ebay doesn’t care about the customers, they care only about fees, they just want your money, remember this, there is no protection of any kind for the customer, no matter what, everything they say is just SCAM
